“This well-kept inn is a lovely getaway. It is tidy and cosy and has everything you need for a short stay in the gold country. The prices are reasonable and the management communicative and helpful. We stayed in Room 8, which boasts a second bedroom with its own entrance and exit and a full bathroom. The main room has a very nice, super-clean kitchen area and a big bathroom with a tub. Windows in the kitchen and bathroom open to trees and light. The decor is lovely, with small shaded lamps and soft deep red blankets across the comfortable beds. It truly is a home away from home!.”

“Wonderful option for families.Sierra Mountain Inn is a wonderful place to stay close to downtown Grass Valley. It felt like home away from home and the accommodations were very comfortable and the staff was friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and well maintained and the grounds were beautiful. If you don’t mind walking a bit of elevation, it is also within walking distance to a great village shopping area with many dining options. We would definitely stay here again.”

“We loved everything about Sierra Mountain Inn. First, the people. They are super nice and go out of there way to make your stay awesome. We dropped in on them without reservations thinking we would stay just one night but liked it so much we decided to stay two. Due to other bookings we had to move but they offered to let us leave our luggage in their office so we wouldn’t have to drag it around. Then they upgraded us on the second night to the Cottage (at the same regular room rate) because it was our anniversary and they liked us. Who does that anymore?!? The rooms are very clean and nicely updated and bright and quiet. We were very comfortable and slept great. We will definitely be back! Thank you!

“Really easy to get to, clean, quiet and all around great experience. The price seemed fair, it was easy to make reservations. Really close to downtown grass valley for shopping, eating and sightseeing. On a main road so easy to get to which was really nice. It has a small kitchenette which is very handy.

“My daughter and I shared a two-bed unit and my parents had a one bed unit. The two-bed unit was awesome. It felt more like an apartment. Besides the separate beds there were two separate baths. The kitchenette was well stocked with plates, utensils, wine glasses, opener, microwave, coffee maker and small frig. The bed were comfortable, the entire unit was very clean, there were two TV’s and great wi-fi reception. The outdoor area was so nice and we spent time at the tables under the trees reading. Walking distance to downtown and the staff was very helpful and friendly. I definitely recommend it and would stay there again."

“Really enjoyed this clean updated beautiful little Inn. Stayed in room #1, the two bedroom suite. Very cozy, comfortable and clean. The property is a collection of small buildings with well maintained lush grass and garden areas. This place has a quaint little charm and is just a few blocks from the shops and restaurants. Our room was well maintained, nicely decorated, and very clean. Bonus it had really nice pillows. Highly recommend.”

Did feel the room was a bit dated, specially the bathroom but otherwise beds were okay and we loved the small kitchenette for our baby items.”

“Great Location, Clean Room, Excellent Staff Excellent Customer Service. Especially the manager Diane. We had a late check in. The Inn looks like small adjoining cottages. The room was very clean, and the beds are comfortable. I love the extra touches they have in the room, like coffee selections, a good amount of nice towels, bedding and like having three different types of bed pillows to know one will suit you. The bathrooms are upgraded too. Very close to town. We enjoyed our stay. Very cute town..”

There is a fridge and microwave and complementary coffee.
We are on our way to Lake Tahoe so this is a one night stop over after a long journey, but I could stay longer.

“Great Jewel in Grass Valley. Our new favorite place to stay. Rooms are extremely clean and while they aren't modern, they don't feel dated like other places we've stayed. We were in Suite 8 and had a kitchen in one bedroom with a desk, 1 additional bedroom and 2 bathrooms. Instacart and Doordash deliver here.
We have tried airbnbs in Grass Valley on other trips, but having to clean the entire house in addition to paying a $250 cleaning fee is ridiculous. Enter Sierra Mountain Inn...
Sierra Mountain Inn was the best of both worlds. The suite felt like our own little place and we had hotel amenities. Wifi worked great for zoom meetings, we were walking distance to shops and restaurants, the staff were kind and helpful and parking was easy and just outside our door. It was surprisingly hot and cold weather on our trip- the air conditioner and heater both worked well.
Ceiling fans were nice to have and made it feel more like home. The shower heads could be better, but that might be my own preference for lots of water pressure to wash my hair - not a make or break deal, they worked fine. We will always stay here on future GV trips.”

“FAVORITE PLACE TO STAY IN GRASS VALLEY! . Not only because of the location, but because it's just so beautiful. My partner and I travel a lot due to work and ever since we were introduced to Sierra Mountain Inn we fell in love with taking trips to this place especially when the Cottage room is available. We've been visiting for 2 years now (going 3) and always look forward to seeing and chatting with Diane who goes above and beyond to make sure our stay is pleasant when we visit.
Only mishap we had was plumbing but it's obvious due to the age of most places out here. Some lady named Maddy said she would write it down and take care of it, but didn't. Our favorite employee handled it with much grace and respect who's name is Diane. Thank you for fixing the problem in such a mannerly fashion. WE LOVE SIERRA MOUNTAIN INN because of DIANE! She should definitely get a pay raise if she hasn't yet. Thank you so much for being friendly and attentive to all guests.Her customer service is always awesome!
P.S they are slowly renovating this place so please be considerate of things, they will always try to accommodate the best way possible. This place is such a gem and wonderful ambiance all around. That's what makes this place feel safe and like home
P.S.S can't wait to visit the updated Cottage room it really is cozy and perfect to relax in. Work or vacation!

“The room was modern, clean, and cozy.. I booked a stay in the cottage room for my brother. The room was modern, clean, and cozy. There was everything you could need for a longer term stay- a full kitchen, a living space with a couch that folds into a bed for an extra guest, plenty of blankets and linens, and a bedroom with a closing door for extra privacy.
The grounds are tidy and feature nicely kept small lawns and trees that help shade the space.
Although the walk to downtown Grass Valley is short and convenient, the motel is far enough up the road for it to be quiet. Cars pass by, but they are hardly a nuisance.
We apparently left a necklace behind and staff was nice and honest enough to call and notify. I do think the next time I am in town I will stay here.
For those not familiar, Grass Valley is a fun place to walk around and has a few really special antique shops along with beautiful Victorian homes. This motel would be a great ground zero for your stay here.

“If I ever find myself in Grass Valley again I won't even give staying anywhere other than the Sierra Mountain inn a thought. On our way up from Southern California, only 30 minutes away from checking in at the Inn we were hit and our car was out of commission. We found ourself 500 miles from home without a car and momentarily stranded. After connecting with a friend we got a ride and able to call the Inn.
I called and spoke with Diane and told her we would be there late. I explained our situation and she was so genuine in her asking if we were okay. She told us not to rush, she would turn the heater on for us and some lights. After the stressful day we were able to walk right into our room which was so warm and welcoming.
When we found out our car is not able to drive for the foreseeable future we needed to stay an extra night. The inn was able to accommodate (even though later it was not needed) finding us a room.
I truly recommend the staff, accommodation, and location of the Sierra Mountain Inn. If I could give them more than 5 stars, I would give them a least 10!!!

“Great place to stay If you can walk uphill, this is perfect for visiting downtown Grass Valley. Its close enough to walk but not in the middle of the chaos. Service is great, it's clean, the 2 bedroom suite is great for families or people who don't want to share a bed but want to share a room. Great deal for the cost. I've stayed twice and I'd return!.”
